The Great War Society comes to High School

Today we were treated to a surprise visit by members of The Great War Society.  Darren and Sam entertained the pupils with stories and facts from WWI - and brought numerous interesting pieces of memorabilia along with them.

After the talk, pupils got a chance to have a close look at the vast array of props and weapons that were laid out on display. Most popular of all were the one hundred year old gas goggles and the Lewis machine gun.

The best quote of the day was made by a second year boy who excitedly ran into his class exclaiming, 'Mr Griffin! There are two soldiers from World War One down in the demo. Can we go see them?'

Needless to say, the demo was overrun with pupils from all year groups and a great time was had by all.  Thanks lads!
