Roll of Honour Tower of London

Sixty-eight soldiers from The High School are being remembered at the evolving installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, at the Tower of London, next week, which is marking the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins, with setting by stage designer Tom Piper, 888,246 ceramic poppies are progressively filling the Tower's famous moat, one for every death in the British forces in the First World War.

Every evening, from now until November 10th, the Last Post will be played at sunset over the Tower moat, and on 29th October, at 4:55 pm the names of  sixty-eight High School soldiers who died in Great War, will be read aloud.  Pupils from the 4th Year HSD War Stories Project were delighted when their efforts to have the men remembered was recognised and accepted by the Roll of Honour project at the Tower of London, and look forward to seeing the names listed on their Tumblr site and watching the ceremony live on the project website now under construction.  If you are in London over the midterm break, perhaps you would consider going to the Tower to hear the names read aloud.  If you do, we would be delighted to hear from you.
