No. 1 Section 81st Royal Engineers Bulford Camp 1915

While I am unsure if any High School boys are in this photo, some of our pupils were in the Royal Engineers and many of them would have gone through a camp of this sort at one time or other.  Photograph courtesy of The Burrows Family.

Private Christopher Fahey, Leinster Regiment, and my own great uncle, photographed above, was one of three brothers who served in WWI. All three survived. As such, they were, in part, the inspiration behind the HSD War Stories Project.
Christopher was a Regular after 1920 and then moved to Canada, not returning to Ireland again until 1963. The metal badge on his right upper arm shows him to be a regimental bandsman (a lyre with crown over it). As well as two medals for WW1, he earned an India General Service Medal in the 1920s. High School soldiers D.L Fletcher, A.F Gibson and  L.F. Harrison  donned the same uniform and all served with the Leinster Regiment, but did not survive the war.
Michelle Burrowes, High School Dublin, (2000- present), English teacher.

The Barron Brothers - High School Pupils.  Louis on the left died, but Harrie, on the right, survived.  Another brother, Jack, also fought but survived.  Photo courtesy of the Barron family.
